The deployment follows a Houthi ballistic missile attack on a training camp for government forces, which the Guardian reports killed 53 people on Monday 19 October. The Typhoons will fly over Saudi cities and key infrastructure, extending UK support for Riyadh, the Saudi capital. The Houthis are an Iran-aligned group from Yemen, and their strikes have repeatedly hit Riyadh, including its airport.
