South Korea's birth rate rises, ending decade decline.
Recent statistics show that more babies were born across the country last year. This change happened because more couples decided to get married during 2024. The new data follows a record low of 0.72 registered two years earlier in 2023, and a slight rebound to 0.75 in 2024. While these figures mark the second consecutive year of birth rate growth following a prolonged decline that started in 2015, the overall population continues to shrink as deaths still exceed births.
