Scotland's AI data centres may ignore climate impact.

Scotland's climate goals could be undermined as new AI data centres might ignore their carbon footprint. An analysis by Action to Protect Rural Scotland shows the government's "green datacentres" policy lacks a clear definition, made before ChatGPT's release. More than a dozen planned facilities could collectively use 6.2GW of power, one-and-a-half times Scotland's peak use.
