Schools in England get £500m extra to avoid teacher strikes

Schools in England will receive around £500 million in additional funding for this school year's teacher pay award, reducing the chance of a strike ballot. The government announced the 3.5% pay rise would be entirely financed through money saved from employers' payments into the local government pension scheme.
