A Learjet 60 came down on Military Trail, a six-lane road of shops and eateries in Palm Beach County, about nine miles from Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort. The US transport secretary, Sean Duffy, called it a "horrific tragedy" after the jet had left Austin, Texas, for the Bahamas. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue declared a "mass casualty incident", and the NTSB will lead the inquiry.
