The Financial Times reported earlier this month that Sainsbury's held merger talks with Morrisons, now the sixth-largest grocer, but says they've ended. Sainsbury's, the UK's second-largest supermarket group, will provide an interim report to shareholders on Thursday 22 October, with analysts anticipated to challenge the company. In July, it also reached an agreement to divest Argos to Swift Partners for a minimum of £120 million.
