City & Guilds Implements £22m Cost-Cutting Drive Following Greek Takeover, Workforce Reductions Begin

The training and qualifications body City & Guilds is reducing its UK workforce as part of a £22m cost-cutting initiative after being acquired by Greek certification firm PeopleCert in October 2025. The organization is becoming a 'leaner organisation' following the takeover, which transferred all commercial awarding, assessment and training operations to the new Greek owners. Approximately 1,400 staff were transferred to the new company while only 10-15 remain with the original charity.
