Basildon, Birkenhead, Grimsby shortlisted for UK Town of Culture

Fifteen towns, including Basildon, Birkenhead, and Grimsby, are in the running to become the UK's first Town of Culture in 2028. Each shortlisted town will receive £60,000 to develop their bids for the award. The winning town will get a £3 million government grant and host a year-long season of cultural events.
