UK government lowers 2030 EV target to 50%.
The UK government is softening its electric vehicle sales goals, letting hybrid cars make up a much bigger chunk of new sales. Ministers are now planning a consultation to adjust the ZEV mandate, the target for EV sales, lowering the pure electric goal for 2030. Carmakers and unions had warned the original 80% target would penalise manufacturers and risk UK jobs.
