Trump puts Hormuz ship rescue plan on hold after Iran attacks
Around 20,000 sailors aboard roughly 2,000 vessels are trapped in the Persian Gulf after Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, cutting off a route carrying about a fifth of global oil and gas. Trump launched 'Project Freedom' on Sunday, promising the US Navy would guide stranded ships to safety, describing it as a humanitarian gesture. He then paused the operation on Tuesday evening, citing progress towards a deal with Iran.
