Phillips resigns to become second minister out

Safeguarding Minister Jess Phillips resigned from Keir Starmer's government on Tuesday afternoon, becoming the second minister to quit during the Labour leadership crisis. Phillips said in her letter that she could not continue to serve as a minister "under the current leadership" and was not seeing the change she and the country expected. She follows Miatta Fahnbulleh, the Minister for Devolution, who resigned a few hours earlier on Tuesday morning.
