Regulator apologises for record £585,000 fine on Sussex University
The higher education regulator for England has expressed regret for errors made when it fined the University of Sussex, a penalty that was subsequently reversed. The Office for Students (OfS) initially tried to fine Sussex £585,000 last year over free speech regulations involving former professor Kathleen Stock. In April, a High Court review determined that the OfS demonstrated prejudice and had prejudged the matter.
