Rare space rock found to be the one that wiped out dinosaurs

Scientists now believe the asteroid responsible for the dinosaur extinction 66 million years ago was an exceptionally rare CO chondrite. Researchers from UBC and other universities studied nickel isotopes in material from the impact, published in Science Advances. Its unusual chemistry suggests that fine debris, not sulfur from the meteorite, caused the deadliest blow.
