Rachel Reeves to scrap fuel duty rise

Drivers could avoid higher petrol and diesel costs as ministers consider changes linked to rising living expenses. Reports said Chancellor Rachel Reeves is expected to cancel a planned fuel duty rise due in September after months of resisting pressure. Reuters said the temporary 5p-per-litre cut, first introduced in 2022, had already been extended several times.
