Rob Base, mainstream hip-hop pioneer, dies days after 59th birthday
Fans are mourning the death of Rob Base, a rap artist whose music helped bring hip-hop to mainstream success. Robert Ginyard, known as Rob Base, died on Friday aged 59, just days after his birthday, following a cancer illness. His 1988 classic, "It Takes Two," achieved the third spot in the rankings of the Billboard Hot Dance/Club Songs chart.
