Muslim Brotherhood operates secretly in ninety countries
Hassan al-Banna established the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt in 1928. The group, which uses the motto 'Islam is the solution,' initially sought a Sharia-governed Islamic state. Operating globally in approximately ninety countries, the Brotherhood is often described as secretive and has maintained a presence in the UK since the 1960s. Groups such as the Muslim Association of Britain are reportedly affiliated. Although the Brotherhood claims to have rejected violence, some link it to extremism. Certain Middle Eastern governments consider it a terrorist entity.
