Russia fires hypersonic Oreshnik missile at Ukraine
Overnight, Russia attacked Ukraine with 36 missiles and 242 drones. Ukrainian forces report intercepting 226 drones and 18 missiles. One missile, a hypersonic Oreshnik travelling at 13,000 km/hour, struck infrastructure, possibly a Lviv gas storage site. The attack killed four and injured 22 in Kyiv. Moscow stated the strike retaliated for a supposed Ukrainian attack on Putin's residence. Ukraine denies this, and the US claims the alleged attack did not target Putin. The Oreshnik, capable of carrying nuclear warheads, has been deployed twice.
