Meta's AI Ambitions Are Costing 8,000 People Their Jobs
Meta will cut 8,000 jobs, 10% of its workforce, starting May 20, while also scrapping 6,000 open roles it had planned to fill. The move was announced Thursday in an internal memo, as Meta prepares to spend between $115 billion and $135 billion on AI infrastructure in 2026, nearly double what it spent last year.
