Labour MPs urge UK to restore 0.7% aid target.
People in poorer countries could receive more UK support if spending returns to an earlier target. Labour backbench MPs called on Andy Burnham to set a 10-year path back to spending 0.7% of national income on overseas aid, with proposals published in a New Economics Foundation pamphlet on Saturday. Liam Byrne also suggested using the UK's 2027 G20 presidency to back a global wealth tax.
