Over 800,000 Pre-School Children Exposed to Adult-Targeted Social Media Content
New research by the Centre for Social Justice reveals approximately 814,000 UK children aged three to five are actively using social media platforms designed for adults. The study found 37% of parents report their pre-schoolers use at least one social media app, up from 29% in 2023. These children, many unable to read, are being exposed to content and algorithms specifically engineered to captivate adult users, raising serious concerns about developmental harm and online safety.
