Putin builds ties with Madagascar military leader
Russia’s growing presence in Africa could shift influence as global tensions rise. Vladimir Putin is strengthening links with Madagascar’s military leadership by providing support, as Moscow seeks to expand its footprint on the continent. The outreach comes as the US focuses on Iran, with Madagascar’s leader Michael Randrianirina having taken power in a 2025 military takeover.
