Prisons Ombudsman to investigate prisoner's death.

The death of former TV actor, John Shannon, in prison will be investigated by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman. Shannon, 54, also known as John Alford, passed away on 13 March 2026, two months after starting an eight-and-a-half year jail term. He was found guilty in September last year of sexually assaulting two teenage girls in April 2022.
