Ports refused to land 120 migrants, forcing boats to Eastney

Ports at Southampton and Portsmouth both turned away RNLI boats carrying 120 migrants rescued off the Isle of Wight. The vessels were therefore forced to land at Eastney, in Langstone Harbour, on Sunday, at which point anti-migrant protesters blocked the road. Portsmouth City Council called Eastney an "unsuitable location" that caused "needless disruption" and a stand-off that lasted into Monday morning.
