Pope Leo XIV condemned Trump's threat that 'a whole civilisation will die tonight' as 'truly unacceptable' and urged leaders to pursue a peaceful resolution to the conflict. Iran's government spokesperson had separately called the threat 'a sign of ignorance of the history of a nation that has repeatedly overcome crises.'
