Twelve accounts on Polymarket, a US crypto-based betting site, put over $264,000 on the result and made nearly $200,000 in winnings, according to French outlet Upside. France Football, which has run the Ballon d'Or since 1956, opened an investigation and has also contacted the police. Upside's co-founder Raphaël Pautard says seven of the accounts had never placed any other bets.
