Man guilty in Christmas Day car attack death

Anthony Gilheaney, 31, was found guilty of murdering 25-year-old Aiden Chapman after launching a drink-fuelled rampage through London's West End on Christmas Day 2024. The convicted man used his Mercedes as a weapon to mow down five pedestrians on Shaftesbury Avenue, targeting victims with racist and homophobic abuse. Chapman died from catastrophic brain injuries on New Year's Eve while four others survived serious injuries. Gilheaney was arrested in Lincoln's Inn Fields after abandoning his vehicle.
