Burnham pledges full funding for defence plan despite £4.7bn shortfall

Andy Burnham has promised to fully fund the Defence Investment Plan, even though it has a £4.7 billion funding gap. The £4.7 billion shortfall was reportedly unknown to Burnham until the plan's publication on Tuesday. The money needs to be found in his first budget, which is expected later this month.
