Paolo Petrecca has stepped down as director of Rai Sport following severe criticism of his performance during the Milan-Cortina opening ceremony. The executive made several on-air mistakes before 9.2 million viewers, including mixing up venues and confusing an Italian actress with Mariah Carey. News staff held a short strike in protest, and he will officially leave his post once the Games conclude.
