Pakistan shuts schools two weeks, adopts four-day workweek.

Shehbaz Sharif announced emergency measures to conserve fuel after global energy prices surged due to the Middle East conflict. Schools will shut for two weeks and public-sector employees will move to a four-day workweek. The government is also cutting ministerial salaries and fuel allowances to reduce consumption. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s navy has begun escorting merchant ships carrying oil and gas to safeguard crucial supply routes and ensure stable energy imports during the crisis.
