Putin cuts parade, Zelensky offers ceasefire

The ongoing conflict sees Ukraine and Russia proposing separate ceasefires. Ukrainian President Zelensky proposed an open-ended truce starting Wednesday, 6 May, following Russia's request for a two-day ceasefire covering 8-9 May. Moscow is also reducing its annual Victory Day military parade, which celebrates the 81st anniversary of Nazi Germany's defeat, due to fears of Ukrainian attacks.
