Over 1,000 little penguins vaccinated against bird flu in Australia

The vaccination initiative, thought to be the biggest wild bird vaccination effort globally, aims to inoculate approximately 5,000 birds on Phillip Island and in St Kilda. Experts trap the penguins as they return to their burrows each night to administer the H5N1 vaccine. The effort helps protect the tiny penguins, which are a major tourist attraction in Victoria, from the deadly H5N1 bird flu.
