US submarine scores first torpedo kill since WWII
US Central Command announced on Wednesday that American forces had struck or sunk more than 20 Iranian ships since the conflict began on 28 February. The statement was posted on X and accompanied by video appearing to show smoking vessels. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth separately confirmed a US submarine had sunk an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean — the first torpedo kill since World War Two. Joint Chiefs Chairman General Dan Caine said Iran's naval presence in the theatre had been effectively neutralised.
