OpenAI rushing to raise $30bn before Anthropic lists in November

The ChatGPT maker's valuation might exceed $1.4 trillion after this funding round, with two sources close to the plans noting its unusually rapid progression. SoftBank, the Japanese investment giant, and MGX, an Abu Dhabi-based investor, are among existing backers in talks to join. Some investors think OpenAI wants to lock in cash from funds that might otherwise back Anthropic's float.
