Oman proposes joint shipping oversight for Strait of Hormuz to Iran
Oman has put forward a new regional plan for the Strait of Hormuz that would stop Iran from having sole control over the key trade route. Officials familiar with the discussions say the model is taken from the Strait of Malacca, where users chip in for upkeep and safety costs. Abbas Araqchi, Iran's foreign minister, discussed the waterway with his Omani and Saudi counterparts on Monday.
