Burnham backed for Labour leader as MPs split
Andy Burnham is widely expected to become the next Labour leader and prime minister, with Sir Keir Starmer facing calls to set a departure timetable. Nick Thomas-Symonds, a leading ally of the Prime Minister, has publicly backed Burnham to take over.
