Birmingham hospital missed bowel signs, grandmother died
A grandmother died after doctors at a Birmingham hospital missed clear signs of a bowel obstruction and didn't provide an interpreter. Sevinc Ulkueri, 76, developed sepsis and her bowel perforated in March 2021 due to treatment delays at Heartlands Hospital. The hospital trust will pay her family £15,000 and improve how they investigate bowel issues.
