National Savings and Investments has raised rates on its British savings bonds, with many now paying more than five percent for the first time in nearly three years. Two-year growth bonds pay 5.07 percent and five-year bonds 5.17 percent. Savers can invest up to £1 million per person with full Treasury backing. Experts warn the best deals can vanish quickly once providers attract enough cash.
