Nottingham scientists developing new drought-resistant rice plants
More than half the world's people eat rice daily, yet its growth is challenged by climate change, causing unpredictable rainfall and heatwaves. University of Nottingham researchers are creating new rice types with resilient genes to improve food output. They use special growth rooms and a micro-CT scanner to find root traits, such as a deeper angle, for breeding.
