North Korean Leader’s Sister Kim Yo-jong Promoted to Senior Party Role at Congress

Kim Yo-jong, the influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, has been promoted to head a department in the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea during the ongoing 9th Party Congress, state media reported. Previously a deputy department director, she now holds a full director post and was also re-elected as an alternate member of the party’s Politburo. The rare congress sets the country’s policy direction for the next five years.
