North Korea arsenal may outgrow US shield
Pressure on US missile defences is rising as North Korea’s nuclear stockpile approaches a level that could overwhelm existing interception systems. Bloomberg reported on 28 April 2026 that Pyongyang’s arsenal is nearing a tipping point after years of rapid expansion. The report says its Hwasong-15, -17, -18 and -19 missiles, combined with current warheads, may already be enough to breach defences built at a cost of about $65 billion.
