New scheme to confine serious offenders to small zones starts October

Serious sexual and violent offenders released from prison will face geographical limits, often just a few miles wide, from October. Probation officers will use GPS to monitor these restriction zones, designed to give victims more freedom and stop unwanted contact. Anyone breaking their new boundaries could be quickly identified and sent back to prison.
