New Respect Orders: Up to 2 years jail for anti-social acts

New Respect Orders: Up to 2 years jail for anti-social acts

Graphic: BriefTea

New Respect Orders came into force across England and Wales on Monday, giving police, councils, housing associations and transport networks fresh powers against persistent anti-social behaviour by adults. Courts can ban offenders from town centres, impose curfews or stop public drinking, and order treatment for drink, drugs or anger. Breaching an order is now a criminal offence that carries up to two years in jail.
