New guidelines aim to stop sexualisation of female athletes in TV coverage
Broadcasters must now adhere to new guidelines for covering female athletics, designed to prevent the sexualisation of the sport through gratuitous camera work. The European Broadcasting Union worked with athletes, including British Olympian Holly Bradshaw, to create the guidance. The guidelines aim to stop low camera angles and slow-motion replays that athletes say cause discomfort and abuse.
