New data centres face local opposition over energy and water use

Around 100 new data centres are planned for the UK, with many set to be built in rural areas over the next five years. One proposed site near Norwich, the seven-acre Norwich Apex Data Centre, has already drawn opposition from 7,000 local residents. People are concerned about the impact on the countryside, wildlife, noise, traffic, and the significant energy and water demands of these facilities.
