New AI will check asylum seekers' ages next year
From next year, new AI technology will start checking the ages of asylum seekers at UK borders, aiming to spot adults pretending to be children. The Home Office awarded a contract for the tool, which will use photos to estimate age, after tests showed it worked well. Last year, 43% of migrants claiming to be children were found to be adults after age assessments.
