Nationwide building society is cutting another 275 jobs as it merges Virgin Money, which it bought for £2.9bn. Staff were told the cuts aim to simplify the business and remove duplicated roles. Jobs will go in mortgages, HR, finance, communications and customer operations. Nationwide said branch and customer-facing staff are not affected, and it plans to keep all 700 branches open until at least 2030.
