Germany halves 2026 growth forecast on Iran war
Europe's biggest economy just got a reality check on what the Iran war is costing everyone. Berlin today halved its GDP growth forecast for 2026 to 0.5% from 1%, with Economy Minister Katherina Reiche blaming the energy price shock from the Middle East conflict. The government also cut its 2027 outlook to 0.9% and raised inflation expectations to 2.7% for this year.
