Manchester Physics Grants Cut by 90%
British scientific progress faces significant long-term risks due to university research funding reductions, threatening the future of quantum computing and medical imaging. Universities learned recently that theoretical particle physics grants will see nearly 70% reductions from 2026 to 2030. Consequently, the country will see under 20 postdocs working in this area each year.
