MSPs reject Murrell inquiry, back wider party finance probe
This means there won't be a specific Holyrood inquiry into Peter Murrell's £400,000 SNP embezzlement, despite calls to restore public trust. Instead, MSPs, members of the Scottish Parliament, voted to back an independent review of all political parties' finances and donor influence. First Minister John Swinney argued a separate probe wouldn't add more to the four-year police investigation already completed.
