Iran Says Supertanker Hit Mine in Strait of Hormuz

Wikimedia Commons

Iran's Revolutionary Guards say a supertanker carrying more than two million barrels of crude oil exploded and caught fire after hitting a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz. They claim the ship had switched off its tracking systems and used an unauthorised route with US military help. The vessel, its owner and the crew's condition have not been named or independently confirmed so far.
